Foodie Forest Fun

Truffles and Dogs. Always a winning combination with me. I did the truffle hunt as a day trip from Ljubljana but they also offer it to cruise ship passengers docking at Koper. Sara welcomed us with truffle cheese, local ham called pršut and creamy truffle pate, both the black and white variety. Then it was off to the forest to watch Sara and her dog Liza in action. Be sure to wear long sleeves and pants so you can enjoy scrambling after the fast-moving dog. They provide insect repellent as well. After enjoying your time in the beautiful forest you return to the farm where Sara prepares local pasta or fuži in truffle sauce that pairs beautifully with the local wines. A fun day in beautiful Slovenian Istria.

Truffle Hunting, wine tasting, and eating our hearts out !

Lado so generously shared with us the beauty & authentic experiences of Slovenia. We loved meeting his talented friends who took us truffle hunting with their amazingly sweet & sharp truffle hunting dog. It was all located very close to the winery property, and easy to navigate. The property had a view that was like a postcard- but more breathtaking. On the property was the sweetest family that owned the vineyard & winery where we spent the day. The vineyard was fragrant, maintained, and filled with grapes & rich history. We learned how to prepare the bounty of truffles the sweet dog spotted & dug up and got to participate in each step! The truffle pasta & wine from the day’s harvest was one of the freshest, tastiest, & most delightful culinary experiences of my life!
Lado has an uncanny ability for bringing together wonderful people in extraordinary places. If you ever are so lucky as to go to Slovenia, you must book this experience, it truly is one for the story books!

Spectacular!

I did many tours with them. Always private tours with the wonderful scenery & countryside. I did also some horseback riding tours in Slovenia & cantering in the fields. The guide took nice pictures too! Visiting a bear in the pub was a surprise! Nature is lovely! Highly recommend!

Alpine Fairy Tale in Slovenia

My husband and I were looking to ride horses in Slovenia and see the sites as well. My internet search brought me to Lado and sLOVEenia Horse Riding. I have to say I was a little concerned as we usually book our trips through our travel agent. But after much communication with Lado we had our trip planned. We spent a full week riding many different horses and in different places in Slovenia as well as seeing many beautiful sites...too many to mention I might add. Lado arranged everything right down to our hotels, meals (and he is a real foodie) and he personally transported us everywhere. We had a great trip and I would certainly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to experience Slovenia on horseback.

We have nothing but praise & gratitude to Lado for making our experiences in Slovenia so amazing. It was the best 3 days of our short Slovenia experience & we cant wait to be back to explore more. From truffle hunting experience, to the requisite Postojna cave & Bled lake & castle & best of all, a surprise hiking trails which you can always Lado to bring you too! We had amazing experience foraging for mushroom, chestnut, raspberries etc. Best of all, there is our little version of 'forest bathing' & lado is a 'tree whisperer' too.
